Lately on Fab: Classic Kartell

You all know that I am a big fan of mixing high and low pieces in my own home and in my client's homes. I always suggest investing in antiques and classic midcentury modern pieces where the budget allows. This way you know your investment in your furniture will have more staying power. Or at least you know your future grandkids will be fighting over who gets the acrylic library ladder. :)

Kartell is one of those big midcentury names, like Eames, Saarinen, Nelson and Bertoia, etc, etc that will always be classic, fresh and timeless in any room.  Most of the famous acrylic/lucite furniture pieces we all know and love are manufactured by Kartell - like Phillipe Starck's Ghost Chair.

Fab, one of my long-time collaborators, has a great Kartell private sale happening right now. The sale technically continues for another two weeks, but these pieces are flying off the virtual shelves here! One of my clients bought three of the bar stools for her kitchen island last night and we're both excited to get them. With the free shipping especially, the Fab price is better than my trade pricing. So grab 'em while they last!

Inlay Boxes at Homegoods

Did you see that Homegoods has a bunch of inlay pieces (trays, jewelry boxes, mirrors, picture frames and even furniture) in gray, black and red backgrounds? I picked up a few pieces last week to add to my hostess gift stash, including two of these jewelry boxes (one in gray and one in red), and I can't decide which one I'm going to keep for myself. :)

They had quite a few chairs that looked a lot like these. They weren't crazy cheap (I think about $200 each), but they were definitely discounted from what similar chairs usually go for. And talk about a look! I love how these chairs pair up so well with more modern furniture.

Did you score any of these Homegoods inlay pieces? Let's see!

PS In case you missed it last spring, here's my DIY version of an inlay-style dresser.

Lately on Fab: Kate Spade Saturday

It's the weekend and I'm in the best mood! It was a really great week around here between Valentines day and all sorts of great news (this was so cool, you guys! Both categories? THANK YOU!) and we're all finally healthy. Good times.

Speaking of weekends and good moods, did you here that Kate Spade is launching an adorable new line called Saturday? The line isn't officially available until March, but my friends at Fab are selling a selection of preview items, and they are so, SO good. Modern-prep at its best!

More Framed (Faux) Butterflies

I'm still in love with framed butterfly collections. Some of you were creeped out by the idea (and I suggested this paper cuts version), but I still like something a little more real-looking.

Recently I was at Michael's picking up some frames for a project and I spied a whole section of faux butterflies that were actually quite pretty! I think a framed collection of these would be adorable in any room, but especially in a nursery or a play room.

Not the real deal, but still pretty, right? Before any coupons, they were priced at about $1-$2 each, which is a steal.

And why not try a unique arrangement pattern (like with these) to mix things up a little?
